DESCRIPTION OF THE DISH

Marinated king shrimps wrapped in thin strands of kadaif dough, fried in butter or oil — this popular oriental dish is currently on the menus of Greek, Italian and Japanese restaurants. However, using a handy pre-made product from Rud, you can easily prepare it at home.

There is no specific recipe for marinating shrimps. The marinade should be bright and rich to make the dish spicy and colourful.

For frying, choose deep frying or oven — the finished dough is deliciously crispy, which hides the tender, juicy shrimp under this voluminous airy crust.

The dish tastes great with aioli or sweet chilli sauce. You can also add citrus mayonnaise or soy sauce with ginger.

Shrimps with kadaif dough

Steps to Make It

1. Peel the shrimp from the shell, remove the black vein on the back.

2. Mix with chopped garlic, lemon juice, salt, pepper and a spoonful of olive oil.

3. Leave to marinate for 15–20 minutes at room temperature or in the fridge.

4. Fluff the kadaif dough to make it airy and divide it into long fibres.

To hydrate, sprinkle with water or melted butter.

5. Form the rolls. Take a small handful of kadaif dough 10-15 cm long.

6. Wrap each shrimp in the dough, starting from the head, so that the tip of the tail remains free. Press down to secure.

7. Put the shrimps on a baking sheet with parchment. Drizzle with a few drops of melted butter.

8. Bake at 200 °C for 10–12 minutes until the shrimp are crispy.

Add your favourite sauce and enjoy!
